Stewart Wilson to stay in prison
Sex offender Stewart Murray Wilson is stuck behind bars after a parole board found he still posed too much risk to the community.
Wilson, who's known as the Beast of Blenheim after a string of sex offences, was declined parole from Whanganui Prison on Wednesday.
He'll be back before the parole board again in October.
Wilson was released in September 2012 under the strictest conditions in New Zealand history to a small house within the grounds of Whanganui Prison.
But Wilson was recalled to prison last April after talking to a relative of one of his victims on a mobile phone the Corrections Department didn't know about and lost a legal bid to have the recall decision overturned.
Wilson was denied parole in April, and agreed to work with a departmental psychologist and undergo counselling.
He's serving 21 years' for sexual and violent offending and his sentence expires on December 1 next year.
Upon his release he is subject to a 10-year extended supervision order.
