The Voice hits ratings low
The Voice has hit an all-time low after it landed in fifth place on the overnight ratings with fewer than 1.3 million viewers.
The Nine Network reality show has shed almost 900,000 viewers since its launch on May 4 when it pulled an audience of 2.155 million.
Monday's 150 minute final, which was the first time the series has gone live this season, attracted 1.271 million viewers to be fifth on OzTAM's overnight ratings.
It was soundly beaten by the Seven Network's reality renovation series House Rules which won the evening with 1.491 million watchers.
Nine News (1.342 million), Seven News (1.281 million) and Nine News 6.30pm (1.275 million) were second, third and fourth respectively.
The Voice, according to one network insider, is estimated to cost Nine in the vicinity of $50 million to produce and its plummeting ratings will be of some concern to the station.
The series should now be on an upward spiral, given it is now in the live elimination rounds. But the overnight ratings are heading in the opposite direction.
The previous lowest audience was last Monday when 1.344 million tuned-in.
It's got to the stage where the other networks no longer near to fear the series.
Network Ten's MasterChef has stood up well despite regularly going head-to-head with the singing series.
MasterChef's ratings are up by some 20 per cent for the corresponding time on last year and on Monday it was ninth with 994,000 viewers.
