More to Timomatic than party tricks

Timomatic is getting personal.

The singer/songwriter's self-titled album released in 2012 was a high energy affair and he has promised his next offering will reveal there is more to Timomatic than party tracks.

"I've been creating a piece of work that is a lot more personal to me," he says.

"It tells to an extent the story of where I have come from and hopefully where I am going."

Timomatic's new material, which he has worked on in Los Angeles, explores the nuances of love and his own experience of coming from Nigeria and growing up in Australia.

"I delve into identity being a black guy in Australia, growing up in Australia coming from Nigeria, being influenced by American culture," he says.

Timomatic says his new record will be like a Michael Jackson album in that you can dance to the tracks but there's a message behind the music.

"(I'm) getting deep, getting a little bit more personal," he says.

"I want my listeners to know me a little bit more than just a `let's have a party' stamp on it."

Timomatic says he hopes to release his new album later this year.
