Warning after 'coffee' theft
At prices approaching $5 for a cup of coffee few could begrudge looking for a cheap fix, but a mistaken thief is risking illness after a coffee-like chemical was stolen in Auckland.
Less than a kilogram of lignosulfonate, a highly toxic chemical, was scooped from a 25kg at an Avondale printing factory on Monday.
Police say despite it looking like and smelling like coffee, the chemical should not be consumed and anyone who came in contact with it should call the fire service and seek medical help.
