NZ diver 12th at Mexico Grand Prix

Commonwealth Games-bound New Zealand diver Liam Stone has shown improvement by placing 12th at a Grand Prix meet in Mexico.

Stone, 17, qualified for the semi-finals of the 3m springboard in Guanajuato where his score of 359.30 wasn't enough to qualify for the six-man final.

He failed to reach the semi-finals last month at an equivalent meet in Puerto Rico, where he placed 16th in the same event.

Compatriot Li Fengyang finished last in the 18-man field in Mexico and 14th in Puerto Rico.

Auckland-based Stone was selected last month as the only New Zealand diver for the Games in Glasgow, where he will contest the 1m and 3m springboard.
