Next census will be internet-focused
The 2018 census will be internet-focused with a target of 70 per cent of forms completed online, the minister in charge of it says.
Statistics Minister Nicky Wagner says the system is dated and needs modernising.
The 2013 census offered online forms and 35 per cent were returned electronically, which was Statistics NZ's target.
"The 2018 census will have a target of 70 per cent of forms completed online and a workforce of half the 7500 used in 2013," Ms Wagner said on Monday.
People will still be able to ask for paper forms to be delivered to their homes.
