Perth man shot dead in 'targeted attack'
Homicide and gang crime detectives are continuing to investigate after a man was shot dead at a workshop in Perth's northern suburbs.
The 34-year-old was found dead at the scene in Gnangara on Thursday afternoon by police who attended following reports of gunshots.
A senior West Australian outlaw motorcycle gang member was reportedly among the mourners later spotted at the scene.
Homicide detective Keith Neubronner said the shooter remained at large.
"Based on what we know so far it appears this incident was a targeted attack, and while the offender is clearly a dangerous person there is no information to suggest nearby residents were in any direct danger," Detective Senior Sergeant Neubronner said on Friday.
"As our investigation continues we believe information from the community could provide us with a key piece of the investigation puzzle, and we ask anyone who has information or camera vision that could assist with this investigation to make contact with us."
Police are seeking CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone vision of any people or vehicles in the Gnangara area between 1pm and 4.30pm on Thursday.
Authorities have launched a major crackdown on bikie-related crime in WA over the past two years.
It was spurred in part by the slaying of senior Rebels bikie Nick Martin, who was gunned down from long range by a hired sniper at a Perth drag racing event in December 2020.
The gunman, a former soldier who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to Martin's murder last year and was jailed for at least 18 years.
Former Rebels bikie David Pye is accused of organising and paying for Martin's killing. He has been charged with murder and other offences but is yet to enter pleas.
