Man charged over Cairns centre killing
A person has been charged with murder after a man had his throat slashed inside a shopping centre in Cairns.
The victim, 51, died 20 minutes after he was set upon during what police describe as a "chance happening" at the Cairns Central Shopping Centre.
He was attacked on the ground floor about 8am before businesses had opened for the day.
A man, 38, has now been charged with one count of murder and will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Queensland Police believe the "easygoing, nice" victim was known to businesses in the centre but not to his alleged attacker.
