Middlemiss and Air to star in sitcom
TV beauties Jayne Middlemiss and Donna Air are to return to their Geordie roots when they appear in a brand new BBC sitcom set in Newcastle called Breeze Block.
The Top Of The Pops and Big Breakfast hosts will appear alongside fellow Geordies Tim Healy and comedian Ross Noble in the show which is to be screened on the corporation's digital channel, BBC Choice.
Breeze Block was written by the award-winning creator of Rab C Nesbitt, Ian Pattison, and is set on a run-down council estate on Tyneside.
The series tells the gritty but witty story of unemployment and depression among a close knit family and their neighbours.
Healy plays the lead role of Ralph Breeze, with his real life wife, Denise Welch, also making a cameo appearance.
Breeze Block is directed by John Stroud, who worked on Harry Enfield and Game On.
The series begins on BBC Choice on March 4 at 10.30pm.
:: Ex-Big Brother contestant Anna Nolan has landed her own BBC series for digital channel Choice.
For the documentary series, Anna In Wonderland, she travels the world visiting oddballs, in the style of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends.
During the six-part series - which kicks off in March - she teams up with raunchy all-female band Rock Bitch and investigates the world of female wrestling.
