CASEY AFFLECK

Name sound familiar? Only because Casey's big brother is no other than Ben Affleck, the actor who starred in Armageddon and Dogma, to name but a few. Casey's already cropped up in bit parts, most notably as screen brother to Ben in Good Will Hunting.

But he's about to break into the Hollywood big time as a star in his own right when Desert Blue comes to UK cinemas this year. Casey stars opposite Christina Ricci and Kate Hudson in the film, which follows the fortune of a town placed under quarantine after a truck carrying cola's secret ingredient crashes.

He's also about to start filming Oceans 11, a remake of the Sinatra 'Rat Pack' flick, alongside George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt.

CATHERINE MCCORMACK

This is the year for British actress Catherine McCormack. Although she was tipped for the top in 1994 when she played Mel Gibson's love interest Murron in the film Braveheart, everything seemed to go quiet on the McCormack front.

After making appearances in The Land Girls and Dancing at Lughnasa, McCormack also appeared in a never-released comedy called The Debtors and a poorly-rated costume romp called the Honest Courtesan.

This year looks set to be different. Not only will McCormack star opposite Hollywood heavyweights Robert Redford and Brad Pitt in the thriller film Spy Game, she's also set to star in The Weight of Water, a film about the murder of Scandinavian immigrants, opposite Liz Hurley.

Also watch out for McCormack in a new TV production, Armadillo.
