Jump Tomorrow (Cert PG)
by CHRISTOPHER TOOKEY, Daily Mail
Joel Hopkins, a young British writer-director based in New York, shows promise with his first film.
Jump Tomorrow is a gentle comedy about a stiff, tongue-tied Nigerian (Tunde Abedimpe) who is on his way north from New York towards an arranged marriage but - spurred on by a romantic new friend (Hippolyte Girardot) - falls for a Latino flirt (Natalia Verbeke) who's travelling with her boyfriend (James Wilby), a stiff, arrogant Englishman.
This is an entirely predictable romantic road movie that strives too hard to be sweet, and features characters that are too racially stereotyped to ring true.
Wilby is virtually an incitement to racial hatred of the English.
However, Natalia Verbeke is cute, and Hippolyte Girardot is energetic and charismatic as the romantic Frenchman.
