Fans of Married At First Sight have already been questioning the authenticity of many of the contestants on the show.

And now Channel Nine have quashed rumours that Sam Ball, who has scandalously been embroiled in an 'affair' with co-star Ines Basic, is a 'paid actor.'

'Sam is not an actor on Married At First Sight,' an Endemol Shine Australia spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday.

'Nothing is scripted on the show and none of the participants are actors.'

The statement comes after a source close to the 26-year-old, told Daily Mail Australia: 'Sam met a group of girls on Friday and told them he was a paid actor on the show.' 

The insider explained that while the tradie dined at a popular Sydney restaurant, he confessed the shocking news to several fans.

'Sam was out at Criniti's for dinner on Friday night with a mate. He ended up making friends with a group of girls,' they said.

'He said he was reading a script continuously while on the show.'

They also claimed that the electrician, who 'married' Elizabeth Sobinoff in the social media experiment, landed the 'acting role' because he is friends with a producer on the show.

'He also said he only got the job because the main producer is a close friend of his,' the source alleged.   

The tattooed gym junkie has made no secret of previously working as a fitness model and occasional television extra.

The Sydney-based hunk launched an acting career earlier this year, scoring small roles on Home and Away and Foxtel's Secret City.

Sam is paired with store manager Elizabeth on the show, while Ines is matched with entrepreneur Bronson Norrish. Both are unhappily 'married'. 

While there were rumours spreading among the cast, Sam and Ines's secret 'affair' will finally be exposed to their TV spouses during Sunday night's commitment ceremony.

Married At First Sight continues Sunday at 7:00pm on Channel Nine
