The Office
Never again can we say the Americans make better sitcoms. This excellent series has all the qualities of Seinfeld (nothing happens, the people are despicable, their lives are meaningless), but has something of Marion And Geoff about it, too.
The whole Tim and Dawn unrequited love thing, for example, is handled perfectly (tonight Tim is on the verge of confessing), while Gareth, the ex-army insomniac - a sort of Iggy Pop meets Ed Gein - is just brilliant.
In this episode, egomaniacal manager Brent (co-writer/director Ricky Gervais) sabotages a training day by playing hits from his heyday as a nearly-was rock star.
