How To Murder Your Wife
This is the late Jack Lemmon in comic mode, as a successful cartoonist who one morning wakes up to discover that he's married the Italian lady (Virna Lisi) beside him.
A congenital bachelor, he grimly decides to regain that status, aided by his manservant (Terry-Thomas).
Director Richard Quine, who had been a cartoonist himself before becoming a film-maker, applies the same comic-strip momentum to the fantasy. The film probably now looks a little dated, with its almost paranoid obsession with what Women's Lib was doing to male chauvinism as well as the Playboy philosophy of Hugh Hefner.
But that simply adds a museum-quality touch to the art of Lemmon and Terry-Thomas.
