Every year, more than 200,000 people go missing. Though half swiftly reappear, a hard core simply vanish. This documentary finds five such people to ask how and why.

It might have been fascinating but for an inherent problem: they disappeared for a reason and do not wish to be traced, so names are changed and actors voice the words. Some facts, too, are doctored to protect identities. But which ones? What to believe?

So here are 'Adrian', on witness protection; 'Sarah', who ran away from home as a teenager; also 'Henry' the 'identity broker'...

But, just as in real life, where do the facts begin and the lies end? Too confusing and too unreal.
