You'd be forgiven for thinking that tonight was a Coronation Street theme night. After the hour-long special, there's a tribute to Bill Tarmey, born William Cleworth Piddington, who celebrated both his 60th birthday and 25 years as Jack Duckworth this spring.

What you won't hear in this largely predictable piece of puffery is Bill's annoyance that the programme has been postponed several times. After all, the man's also got a new album of ballads to promote and needs to know when to release it: 'I can't tell you how angry and hurt I am. Christmas Day, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Easter Day - missed the lot, haven't we?'
