Paradise

A new comedy series in which Amanda Root (pictured) plays Antonia, new owner of an idyllic country cottage.

With the cottage she has also acquired Mrs Sharp, the cleaner (Liz Smith in one of her lovely mad old bat roles). Antonia tries to pay her off, but Mrs Sharp won't budge. She bashes around the house like an angry poltergeist, rearranging the furniture, reading private letters and baking poisonous pies.

Every day Mrs Sharp and the cottage's previous owner (George Baker) have a slanging match in Antonia's front garden. What can Antonia do?

A lovely bit of writing, with the cast clearly relishing their lines.
