Ride The High Country
Sam Peckinpah's potent 1962 western stars Randolph Scott (in his last film) as a lawman-turned-circus-sharpshooter who agrees to help former colleague Joel McCrea to transport a consignment of gold from a remote mining camp to a small-town bank.
Naturally, his real intention is to steal the bullion en route.
Peckinpah, in only his second feature, directs with rare sensibility this bittersweet tale of two old stagers struggling to adapt to a new era.
The beautiful locations and marvellous performances from Scott and McCrea combine to make this a western classic.
