Planet Patio
Any old excuse to stick Diarmuid Gavin in front of a camera, the doyen of 'modern, contemporary' garden design.
This time he is restricted in scale (the BBC has had to rehouse to a small flat in Deptford following Gavin's last series), but he still has the same spooky Diarmuid-worshipping clients who all use his lingo.
However, the designs, as usual, are spectacular, and there are some very useful tips in tonight's programme about decking.
Vicky Gibbs has a monochrome patio with a swimming pool outside her Seventies Barratt-style home, which Diarmuid says has a 'very Californian feel', and he proceeds to turn it into a Hollywood oasis.
With a completely straight face, Vicky, your classic way-out-of-London executive-wife type, tells Diarmuid, 'My style is very modern, contemporary and fashionable,' but with no evidence of this whatsoever. She wants her patio to have a 'wow factor'. My God - she's Alison Steadman in Abigail's Party.
Cheese and pineapple stick, anyone? (Although, of course, this is now high fashion in Hoxton.)
