Pearl Harbor
From the opening sequence of explosions and roaring aircraft, you'll realise that this is no ordinary war documentary.
It's the first time that the events of December 7, 1941 have been seen in such depth - and in colour. Add portentous American commentary, jump-cut editing and thuddingly ominous background music and you could be forgiven for thinking you were watching an extended film trailer. (It's no coincidence that Pearl Harbor, the movie, is on general release.)
But there's no denying the poignant effect that colour brings, even if the present tense narration - 'anyone who can, grabs a gun' - is jarring.
The interviews with both Japanese and American survivors are compelling.
