An Unsuitable Job For A Woman
Helen Baxendale is back as private investigator Cordelia Gray in a new drama based on the P.D. James character.
When an old police sparring partner asks her to tail his daughter's boyfriend, Cordelia gets involved in a sinister business which, naturally, she will solve with plenty of time to get to her Pilates class.
She wafts about in white linen, looking puzzled yet determined and constantly tucking her hair behind her ears. Pretty much like the rest of her on-screen incarnations, from Friends to Cold Feet.
Since seeing Ronnie Ancona's spot-on impersonation of her on Alistair McGowan's Big Impression last week, watching her will never be quite the same.
This is OK, but not quite intriguing enough to sustain its two-hour length.
