Aliens

This was the second of the Alien saga, and it's already beginning to suffer from familiarity with its format.

James Cameron, who was to do Titanic some years later, has his own robust way with the plot, which gains in physical action what it loses in moody suspense.

Sigourney Weaver again plays the dauntless space captain who brings the marines to the aliens' planet where they do battle against a host of monsters.

The special effects are bigger, too, though none of them packs the same shock as when the little alien jumped out of John Hurt's tummy in the first film.
