A & E
Jack, as is becoming obvious, is a snake in the grass. Over supposed friend Robert's head, he has been appointed Clinical Director of St Victor's. This is merely part one of a game plan which will become increasingly sinister.
Good: gory operations are ten a penny on television - what we want is an archetypal bad guy.
So here is Jack, playing Robert off against Christine, and there she is, playing right into his hands.
Mike - remember him? - is back from London, asking for his old job back and for another chance with Cathy who, but a fortnight ago, was becoming excessively amorous with Robert. Mike attempts to turn on the charm for her and lists the reasons for his return - of which she comes bottom.
Clearly some confusion between offensive charm and the charm offensive.
So it's business as usual in A&E: more wounded hearts than wounded patients - though Sam (Jane Danson, pictured) has a bit of work on her hands.
