The London Marathon
In one of its biggest outside broadcasts of the year, the BBC will devote five hours to coverage of the 30,000 runners pounding the streets of the capital.
Well ahead of the assorted Fred Flintstones, gorillas and Pink Panthers will be the professional runners hoping to emulate Portugal's Antonio Pinto and Kenya's Tegla Loroupe, respectively the first man and woman to finish last year.
Expect also to see plenty of shots of Steve Redgrave, as the five-times Olympic champion bids to add further to his superman of sport reputation by completing the the 26 miles and 385 yards from Greenwich to the Mall.
