A meaty problem
Brookside's vegetarian Bev was none too pleased to find Lance and Fred cooking sausages in her flat this week, and Coronation Street's Maxine can't be enjoying Ashley's witterings about the sausage trail. But on the whole, the soaps are a pretty carnivorous zone.
The Street would collapse without its butcher contingent (although look out for the vegetarian sausage on Sunday!). Where would Emmerdale be without the livestock that ends up on the menu at Chez Marlon? And how would the EastEnders survive without the bacon breakfasts at the café?
One question, though: with foot and mouth putting up prices, how come they can all afford meat?
