Murder In The First
Kevin Bacon gives a superb performance as Henri Young, a prisoner serving three years' solitary confinement in Alcatraz.
When he emerges from his cell, he is a man on the edge, and wastes no time in killing an inmate with a spoon.
What follows is an efficient, if far from tense, drama in which a young lawyer (Christian Slater) attempts to indict the prison's brutal regime.
Based on a real case, it also stars Gary Oldman as a menacing warden.
