Two stories this week, both of which seem like something from another time and place, not 21st-century Europe.
In Albania, the ancient code of the blood feud dictates that if someone is killed, the victim's family take revenge against the male line of the killer's family. This means that thousands of men and boys are imprisoned in their homes, while the women must try to support them.
Meanwhile, in France, some 140,000 people are living in polygamous families. This has now been declared illegal and, once again, it is the women who will suffer.
