Martine on the mend
by NILUFER ATIK, Daily Mail
For a young lady used to being centre stage, it was little more than a walk-on part.
But Martine McCutcheon made the most of her first outing since leaving hospital.
The 24-year-old actress spent the weekend recovering at her home in West London after three days in hospital with a severe throat infection.
Yesterday, in dark glasses, a sheepskin coat and thick scarf, she ventured out, leaning on a friend's arm as they got into a car.
She said she had not yet fully recovered from the illness that forced her to withdraw as Eliza Doolittle in the National Theatre's £5million production of My Fair Lady a week ago, telling photographers: 'I am not very well.'
It is not yet known whether Miss McCutcheon will be strong enough to return to her acclaimed role.
A spokesman for the former EastEnders actress said yesterday: 'Martine came out of hospital on Friday and has rested over the weekend.
'She's still quite poorly but is getting a little better each day. She is seeing the doctors and her own specialist each day and is hopeful that she will be able to return to the part some time next week.'
