The new Band Aid single looks certain to be this year's Christmas number one after fans sent the charity track straight to the top of the charts.
Do They Know It's Christmas hit the number one spot yesterday after its first week on the shelves.
Band Aid 20 features Chris Martin, Dido, Robbie Williams and Justin Hawkins of The Darkness, with Bono reprising his original line: "Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you."
Sir Paul McCartney, Jamelia, Busted, Keane and Dizzee Rascal also feature on the single which is expected to make up to £20 million for charity.
The 1984 original sold 750,000 copies in its first week and 3.5 million in total.
Rapper Ice Cube has shot in at number two with a new mix of You Can Do It featuring Mack 10 and MS Toi. The track was originally recorded in 1999 and has been a popular club tune.
New entries
Also new in the top ten are US punk band Green Day with Boulevard of Broken Dreams at five, Natasha Bedingfield with Unwritten at six, Babyshambles with Killamangiro at 8 and Snoop Dogg ft Pharrell with Drop It Like Its Hot.
Transsexual Big Brother 5 winner Nadia failed to get into the top 10 with her first single. Dance track A Little Bit of Action only made it to 27.
The BBC Children in Need charity single by Girls Aloud, I'll Stand by You, dropped from the top spot to number four while Destiny's Child slipped one place to three with Lose My Breath.
Over in the album charts Irish rockers U2 remain at number one with How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.
Robbie Williams' compilation, Greatest Hits has gone up one to number two while controversial rapper Eminem's Encore slipped one place to three.
