Scarlett's the new face of Eternity
Last updated at 12:05 26 August 2004
Nineteen-year-old actress Scarlett Johansson has been chosen as the face of Eternity Moment, the latest
fragrance from fashion label Calvin Klein.
The glamorous young starlet, who is also appearing in magazine adverts for Louis Vuitton, was picked as one of the most promising
stars
of
her generation who, according to the perfume manufacturers, is seen to embody what today's young women are all
about
- independent, spirited and confident.
The new perfume is described as a fresh-squeezed floral scent which was inspired by the
exhilaration of falling in love and it contains essences of lychee, pomegranate
flower,
Chinese pink peony, passion flower and rosewood.
Johansson has had a meteoric rise to the top after her acclaimed appearances in films such as The Girl with the Pearl Earring and Lost in Translation. She will soon be seen in TV ads starring alongside the actor Trent Ford.
The ad, shot by fashion photographer Peter Lindberg
in
California, tries to capture the moment when two people are beginning to
fall
in
love, then flashes back to the moments that show how it all began.
The actress spoke about her commitment to Calvin Klein Fragrances and
Eternity Moment at a promotional party earlier this summer in New York.
Arriving at the event - at which Big Boi from the band Outkast gave a
special
performance - Johansson said, "It's been an incredible year for me and
certainly this campaign is an incredible dream come true. I was
honoured
and
surprised. It's exhilarating. The Calvin Klein fragrances have such an
amazing history and so many incredibly beautiful women have graced the
pages
of advertisements and commercials for all his fragrance lines."
The Eternity Moment bottle is a reinterpretation from an earlier Calvin
Klein classic - Eternity, first released in 1988. The new Eternity
Moment
bottle has a taller, more slender profile and a transparent cap.
The full Eternity Moment range will be available in leading department
stores nationwide
from
September 4.
