The Middle Classes

Producers have a current obsession with finding elder statespeople to reminisce about their younger days. We seem to be forever looking backwards in the 21st century, not always interestingly.

This rambles on about class war between the wars, laced with cliché but featuring the odd chink of light.

Middle-class residents of north Oxford built a wall between themselves and the council houses. 'They thought they was better than us,' retorts one council resident now. 'Snobbery.'

The nation surely does have an obsession with class, though perhaps not enough of an obsession to endure all of this.
