Beastly Business
These two films, shown consecutively, cover similar ground to Ch4's recent
The Rise And Rise Of Animal Rights.
They differ in concentrating more on the politics and human impact of 'animal rights', and in having more North American content.
The first film begins in Newfoundland - remember Brigitte Bardot and the baby seals - and shows how the animal rights lobby is now a huge multinational industry.
The second film focuses on Greenpeace's attempts to stop the slaughter of whales in the Faroes and looks at the hunting debate in Britain.
It features an interview with the founder of the Political Animal Lobby, which gave £1 million to Labour. No strings attached, of course.
