New characters are equally well conceived: the air-traffic controllers, who play pranks on each other during moments of potentially fatal consequence; Teacher, who cannot look her pupils in the eye; and the wonderful Invisible Boss. Mr Sniffer, shoe fetishist, is less impressive, but let's not be finicky...
