Sven and Nancy want to adopt
Nancy Dell'Olio and England soccer manager Sven Goran Eriksson are thinking of adopting a child, she revealed today.
Dell'Olio, 40, said "now would be good" timing for a new addition to the family.
Eriksson, who has two grown-up children from a former marriage, is ready for fatherhood again, she told The Guardian.
Doubts
The only sticking point is Dell Olio's doubts about the dramatic changes it would bring to her busy but glamorous lifestyle. She also fears she would be an "apprehensive" mother.
In a controversial statement likely to cast doubt over her mothering instincts, she said: "Sometimes I want them, sometimes I don't. It could be the time to have a child now, I'm more prepared," she said.
"But I'm afraid it would change my life completely. I'm sure it can be the most incredible thing to have kids. But I'm thinking of adopting rather. Because so many children have no parents."
Mature mothers
If her plans become a reality, Dell'Olio would join crime writer Lynda La Plante, 57, as a mature mother of an adopted baby.
This month the Prime Suspect creator spoke of her joy after adopting her first child Lorcan, now six-months-old, in Florida.
Other celebrities who have become adoptive parents include Angelina Jolie, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ally McBeal star Calista Flockhart, Kirstie Alley, Sharon Stone, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
