Britney pulls out of Awards
Pop princess Britney Spears has pulled out of the MTV Music Awards, it emerged today.
The US singer had been due to present an award at the showcase ceremony in Edinburgh on Thursday.
But organisers have confirmed "ill health" has forced the 21-year-old to withdraw from the event.
Some of the biggest names in music - including Beyonce, Kylie Minogue and the White Stripes - will perform live at the Ocean Terminal complex in Leith.
An MTV spokeswoman said: "Britney was due to present an award as opposed to perform but has pulled out due to ill health.
"We are disappointed she won't be attending but we wish her well for a speedy recovery.
"We are still looking forward to a fantastic show on Thursday."
The spokeswoman could not not comment on news reports that Spears is suffering from flu.
