Jade has a major fall out
by ALEX BARACIA, Evening Standard
She is the loud-mouthed Bermondsey girl whose drunk and naked TV exploits won her the affection of Big Brother fans.
He is the upper-crust Army major found guilty of cheating on the nation's favourite quiz show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
In real life, Jade Goody's and Charles Ingram's paths would never cross. But in the strange world of reality TV, the pair are locked together for a week - in Channel 4's Celebrity Wife Swap.
In the show, to be screened on 11 November, 21-year-old Goody samples rural life at the Ingrams' Wiltshire home, with their three daughters and the dog, while Mrs Ingram takes on Goody's Essex flat and her TV presenter boyfriend, Jeff Brazier.
And while Goody confronts Ingram over his quiz show cheating, Brazier forces a horrified Diana Ingram, 39, into a night out clubbing with the lads.
The result? Tensions build into a four-letter confrontation between Ingram and Goody, while Mrs Ingram is made to knock back tequila and shake her booty on the dancefloor.
"I've lost count of the times that he's referred to my age," she snaps. "Jeff is fondly imagining that going nightclubbing is revisiting my youth and making me feel young again. But I don't enjoy dancing."
Meanwhile, over at Casa Ingram, a pregnant Goody - who has since given birth to a boy - tells Ingram to change his image. "You look like you're 49 and you're 39. If a tracksuit is good enough for David Beckham, it's good enough for you."
Later, after cooking Sunday lunch for Ingrams' family and friends, Goody has had enough of his wife's traditional housewifely burden.
"Well done, you've walked the ******* dog," she bellows. "All you waffle on about is bloody Millionaire."
Complaints
And when she hears Mrs Ingram has complained about the "noise" and lack of routine in her and Brazier's lives, she accuses her rival of being a "stuck-up snob".
But, despite the culture clash, the couples find they have learned a thing or two from the experience.
Goody admits: "Charles is nothing like I'd imagined him to be. I've learned to stop judging people before I meet them."
And Ingram admits Goody has revised his opinions on several fronts. "We are besotted with timing in this family. I'm very regimented and I don't want to be."
