Gere and Hutton together again

When they linked up in the slick thriller American Gigolo, Lauren Hutton was the older woman to the dark and brooding Richard Gere.

Looking at Miss Hutton as the stars were reunited in London, it was hard to believe that their sizzling on-screen relationship was 23 years ago.

Although 60-year-old Miss Hutton has suffered personal and professional setbacks, she retains the face and figure of a woman 20 years younger.

Gere, 54, is greyer and more lined but no less the heart-throb.

In American Gigolo, he played an Armani-suited male prostitute who falls for a politician's wife, played by Miss Hutton.

They were reunited yesterday to launch the Giorgio Armani Retrospective exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts.

While Gere went on from Gigolo to appear in hits such as Pretty Woman and Chicago, Miss Hutton was relegated to lesser roles.

In 2000, she was badly injured in a motorbike crash, then learned that false rumours had been spread around Hollywood that she was having an affair with Julie Christie.
