In A Land Of Plenty
It's the Seventies now, and much has changed for the Freeman family. The suicide of their mother is still keenly felt, and now there is another death in the household. But life moves on.
James, now working as a photographer for a local newspaper, is drawn to one of his subjects - whom he meets in dramatic circumstances - while Alice, having completed her studies at Cambridge, finally agrees to meet Harry. Even Laura succeeds in renegotiating her position within the Freeman household.
But still a sense of uneasiness hangs over the Freemans.
