Absolute Power
Stephen Fry and John Bird return in a new series of this topical satire, which is set in the top government and media relations firm, Prentiss McCabe.
Employed by the Labour government to help refine its 'message' for the forthcoming election, Fry's Charles Prentiss grapples in this first episode with the issue of whether the voters are starting to find Labour boring.
Meanwhile, Martin McCabe, played by Bird, struggles with the fact that he finds his own agency's success and new-found affluence very dull.
'To start with, the agency was a disaster, but it was a hell of a lot of fun. We were a pair of lying, twisting charlatans - it was wonderful,' he laments.
To alleviate his boredom, he agrees to help a variety of lost causes, such as his old Cambridge professor's bid to rebrand the study of philosophy.
