Demi Moore's 'unfathomable devastation' over Rob Reiner's murder as star shares details of how their kids 'grew up together'

Demi Moore expressed her 'unfathomable devastation' over the murder of director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer.

The star, 63, remembered Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, in a poignant tribute, after they were found knifed to death at their $13.5 million Brentwood mansion on Sunday, with police now saying their son Nick, 32, is 'responsible' for their deaths.

The actress — who starred in Reiner's 1992 thriller A Few Good Men — recalled how 'intertwined' their lives were and how their children 'grew up together.'

'There are no words to truly express the unfathomable devastation of losing Rob and Michelle Reiner,' she wrote in an Instagram post on Monday.

'Our kids grew up together, we worked together, and as our lives intertwined personally and professionally I will always cherish the moments and memories of what we shared,' Moore went on.

'They were amazing people and wonderful parents who gave of themselves to make the world a better place,' she added.

Moore wrapped up her post writing, 'My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with their family, friends, and all that are affected by this tragedy.'

Moore shares three daughters from her marriage to ex Bruce Willis: Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31.

Meanwhile Rob and Michele were parents to three children together: sons Jake, 34, and Nick, and daughter Romy, 28. Reiner also shared daughter Tracy Reiner whom he adopted during his marriage to Penny Marshall.

Moore played Lieutenant Commander Joanne Galloway in A Few Good Men, which was nominated for four Oscars. The film also starred Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, and Kevin Bacon among others.

Alongside her post, Moore added a photo from the set of A Few Good Men, where she was seen smiling with Reiner, Cruise and Bacon.

The star also shared a photo of Rob and Michele at the premiere of When Harry Met Sally in 1989.

Moore's co-star Bacon also shared some heartfelt thoughts about the director.

'I'm not sure how to do this,' he said in an emotional clip on Instagram.

'But Rob Reiner gave me a job in "A Few Good Men." Sometime in the ’90s, I guess it was. I was over the moon to get that job — people may or may not know but "This Is Spinal Tap" is my all-time favorite movie and when he called me, I was just so thrilled.'

'The making of that movie was one of the best experiences I've ever had on a set,' Bacon continued.

'He was so fun. It really comes down from the top, you know? You can set a tone where people feel like we are working hard but also working hard in a safe and pleasant and fun situation.'

'You know, we had lunch together every day. I've never done that with a director before or since, I'd never gone to have lunch. And Michele would be there, and the two of them were so great together. Kyra would come by, she was pregnant, and bring Travis. It was a magical time.'

'So I’m just sending love to everybody that knew him because I know that everyone’s hurting today.'

Kiefer Sutherland, who also starred in A Few Good Men, said in a statement, 'Like so many, my heart was broken today when I heard the news about Rob Reiner and his wonderful wife, Michele. Rob was one of the kindest gentleman I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, when I was very young he gave me an opportunity that changed my life, and I will forever be grateful.'

Rob and Michele were found dead by their daughter, Romy.

Nick, who is known to have a history of drug addiction and volatile mental health, is now facing federal murder charges and is being held without bail.

His arrest came after Romy reportedly told police that a family member 'should be a suspect' because they are 'dangerous.'

Just hours earlier, Nick had attended a holiday party with his parents, and reportedly left A-list guests concerned after they got into a 'very loud argument.'

'Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,' a source told PEOPLE about the bash, which was hosted by comedian Conan O'Brien.

The family had been dealing with Nick's spiraling mental illness and drug issues for months at that point, telling friends 'we've tried everything,' according to TMZ.

Nick had even previously attended rehab when he was just about 15 years old.

By the time Nick was 22 in 2016, he said he had gone to rehab 17 times, adding that he had been left homeless after refusing to get help on multiple occasions.

'If I wanted to do it my way and not go to the programs they were suggesting, then I had to be homeless,' he told People, seemingly referring to his family.

'I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas. I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.'

Eventually, Nick said he 'got sick of it.

'I got sick of doing that shit. I come from a nice family. I'm not supposed to be out there on the streets and in homeless shelters doing all these f*****-up things.'

One year prior, Nick's parents expressed regret at how they had dealt with their son's addiction, saying they failed to listen to him and instead relied on medical professionals to get him through it.

'When Nick would tell us that it wasn't working for him, we wouldn't listen,' Reiner told the Los Angeles Times at the time.

'We were desperate and because the people had diplomas on their wall, we listened to them when we should have been listening to our son.'

Michele added: 'We were so influenced by these people. They would tell us he's a liar, that he was trying to manipulate us. And we believed them.'

Once Nick became sober, he and his father would go on to co-write the semi-autobiographical movie Being Charlie about his struggles with drug addiction and the impact it has on a person's family.

Nick worked on the film from rehab and collaborated with his director father on the project, which depicts the strained relationship between an actor father and his addict son and tracks closely with the Reiner family's own experience, they said at the time.

It ends with an apology from the father about the occasionally harsh way he treats his son, including enforced stints in rehab, something Reiner said he gave his son in real life.

Reiner's family have since said in a statement of the heartbreaking deaths: 'It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.'

The couple had posed for their final full family photo in September with Nick, Romy, and their eldest son Jake and his wife Maria Gilfillan at the premiere for Spinal Tap 2, which he directed and wrote.
