Shia LaBeouf has been quite the busy star, having just wrapped his third film of the year, so it was a rare sight indeed to see the actor on a coffee run in Los Angeles.

LaBeouf was also sporting a different look during his stroll as he spoke on his phone and held a large cup of java, and it wasn’t the track pants and San Francisco 49ers t-shirt either.

The actor - who finally settled his legal battle with ex FKA Twigs back in July - had a closely shaved head and face that appeared to be freshly groomed, but it wasn’t exactly surprising as he portrayed a convict in his latest movie, God of the Rodeo, which finished shooting end of summer.

The crime-thriller is set in Angola Prison and LaBeouf, 39, plays an inmate who participates in the prison’s first rodeo in 1967.

LaBeouf has a penchant for playing gritty characters.

In Salvable, which came out on May 2 of this year, he played another convict. In the David Mamet-directed prison drama Henry Johnson, released on May 8, he played a sociopathic but highly intelligent prisoner.

LaBeouf is widely known as a method actor who will totally transform his look for a role.

For the 2014 WWII film Fury, LaBeouf shaved his head, cut his own face to create real scars of battle, went without bathing for days and even had a tooth pulled for realism, per IndieWire.

LaBeouf is also known for his many Hollywood feuds.

He didn't speak to his mentor Jon Voight 'for years' after a huge bust-up, it was revealed in the documentary Megadoc, which chronicled the making of the film Megalopolis.

The pair worked together on the 2003 comedy Holes and on the 2007 blockbuster Transformers.

LaBeouf credits the Midnight Cowboy star with helping him 'fall in love' with the 'craft' of acting, but they fell out over the phone and their relationship imploded after LaBeouf threatened to come over to his pal's house for a 'fist fight.'

They later made up before filming Francis Ford Coppola's movie Megalopolis together, with LaBeouf admitting he had to 'make amends' with Voight.

LaBeouf explained: 'The first version [of the script] I read was about five years ago.

'[Coppola] did a table read. And in the time from that read to this film, I had basically f***** my whole life up. I was in the midst of doing my ninth step in this program I’m in, and I had to go make amends to Voight because Voight’s politics and mine are very different. I love him very much…

'He was like my mentor from a young age. He was like the first real actor I ever met, and he’s the first one who put me on to [Dustin] Hoffman’s repertoire...

'He would sit in a room with me and watch all these movies back to back, and [that] made me fall in love with the process and the craft, because before that, I was just a poor kid making money.'

LaBeouf added of their falling out: 'We had a big fight on the phone where I told him I was going to come to his house and we were going to fist fight, and I hung up the phone. Didn’t talk to him for years.'

The documentary charts the making of Coppola's 2024 sci-fi epic Megalopolis, and in the film LaBeouf reveals he feared he was going to get fired from the film before shooting began after a public meltdown and a brush with the law.

Coppola still wanted LaBeouf in the movie, but the pair ended up clashing on set and the actor revealed the director called him 'the biggest pain in his f****** a***' but later emailed to apologize for losing his temper.

LaBeouf also got Timothee Chalamet’s fans testy when he appeared to diss the Call Me by Your Name actor in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

LaBeouf was discussing his firing from 2013 Broadway play Orphans - in which he was rumored to have butted heads with co-star Alec Baldwin.

Reflecting on his extreme method acting, he told said, 'Me and Alec would never have these problems now. But I was in an island.

'Then I hear Timothée Chalamet get up and he says something like, “I want to be great.” I so know the feeling. On him, it’s cute. On me, it wasn’t cute. You know what I’m saying?'

In February Chalamet expressed his wish to become an acting legend when he won the Best Actor SAG Award for A Complete Unknown.

Chalamet said: 'I can’t downplay the significance of this award, because it means the most to me. I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness.'

Fans quickly took to social media to slam the LaBeouf - who refuted those claims on social media.

Those fans also brought up abuse allegations leveled against him by ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs in a 2020 lawsuit. LeBeouf denied all the allegations and finally settled the lawsuit in July of this year.
