Patsy Palmer returns to TV
Former EastEnder Patsy Palmer is to return to TV screens playing a private eye in a new murder mystery series.
She will star alongside Ballykissangel's Lorcan Cranitch in the drama, McCready And Daughter, which begins filming later this month.
The pair will play a father and daughter private detective team based in the Irish community of Kilburn, north London.
A single episode of the drama was screened in June but the makers, BBC Northern Ireland, decided to commission a series.
Red-haired Palmer, who played feisty Bianca in the soap, admitted that her new role was very different to the previous characters she had played.
The mother of two said: "The role of Clare McCready is one of the most challenging I have ever played. It's very different from my previous roles.
"I am delighted that the show has been commissioned and I am thrilled to be working with Lorcan again."
Her co-star, who played Sean Dillon in the BBC's hugely popular Ballykissangel, added: "I am looking forward to taking on the challenging role of McCready again. Working with Patsy is so much fun."
Filming will begin in London later this month and the series is expected to hit screens in the summer.
BBC Northern Ireland's executive producer, Kate Triggs, said: "Developing a new series for Patsy Palmer and Lorcan Cranitch has been a joy. As father and daughter in this series they light up the screen."
