In this vibrant romantic comedy, American academic Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick (British actor Henry Golding), to his best friend's wedding in Singapore. There, to her surprise, she discovers Nick's very rich little secret - they are all fantastically wealthy.
Among the cast of characters Rachel meets - one stands head and shoulders above the others - Nick's hilariously terrifying mum, played by Michelle Yeoh (later an Oscar winner for Everything Everywhere All At Once), who is very hard to win over.
Based on a book by Kevin Kwan and a runaway hit when it landed in cinemas back in 2018, Crazy Rich Asians remains extravagantly enjoyable. It's directed by Jon M Chu, who went on to helm the two Wicked movies. (120 minutes)
