Of all the projects that director Philip Barantini would take on after Adolescence - the gritty British state-of-the-nation drama that was shot in one long take - a long music video for Ed Sheeran has to be the most surprising option. This isn't just any music video, though. No - like Adolescence, this is essentially a roving concert, shot in one continuous take across New York City.

No one can accuse Barantini from shying away from a challenge here, as his cameras follow the singer-songwriter wandering the city like a 21st-century troubadour, knocking out mini-gigs not only on the street but also on the city's subway system, a decision that has to have kept the director up at night during the planning stages of this whole madcap enterprise.

Whether or not you're a fan of Sheeran and his music - his hits include Shape Of You, Perfect and Thinking Out Loud - the idea of someone trying to film this 'in the wild' and actually having to have it look good is a pretty compelling reason to watch.

Sheeran isn't without busking experience on the city's subway, though. Earlier in 2025 he sang and played undercover down there with talk show host Jimmy Fallon. The pair of them bashed out a decent Pink Pony Club to quite a crowd before the singer revealed his trademark ginger hair.
