Outlander: Blood Of My Blood: Trailer, certificate and where to watch
Prequel series that reveals how Claire and Jamie's parents met
Year: 2025
Certificate: 18
Time-hopping romantic fantasy series Outlander saw Second World War nurse Claire transported back in time to the Scotland of 1743, where she meets dashing highlander Jamie. Clocking up seven sweepingly romantic series to date with an eighth and final one on the way, it's earned an army of fans, all of whom will find a lot to study and enjoy in this prequel show.
It takes on the parallel stories of Jamie and Claire's parents, explaining how Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser (Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy) fell in love in 18th-century Scotland, while Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp (Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine) begin a relationship in the England of the First World War. The latter story will certainly raise eyebrows for fans with a thorough knowledge of Outlander lore, but we'll leave it to the show to answer all those.
With arguably twice as much star-crossed romance as its parent show, this series runs for ten episodes with a second already on the way. Diana Gabaldon, the author of the original Outlander books, was involved in series one and co-wrote the finale, and there are Easter eggs throughout the run for fans to spot. A second series has been ordered. (Ten episodes)
