Derry Girls: Trailer, certificate and where to watch
Growing pains in Northern Ireland during the Troubles
Year: 2018-2022
Certificate: 15
Fond, funny and foul-mouthed, no doubt about it - Derry Girls is a winner.
Set in 1990s Northern Ireland and based on writer Lisa McGee's schooldays, Derry Girls is a comedy about growing up during the Troubles. Not that it's at all political. Life in a warzone is seen as inconvenient to our heroines, what with soldiers boarding school buses and bomb threats interfering with their lives.
But such problems are seemingly dwarfed when compared to the diktat imposed on them by terrifying headmistress Sister Michael (Siobhán McSweeney). (Three series)
