With all three original series of Borgen on Netflix (alongside the Netflix-funded Borgen: Power And Glory), there's no better time to dive into the murky waters of Danish politics.
The show starts with Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen) as leader of a minor centrist party, but it's not long before events conspire to catapult her to the heights of Prime Minister. She can be ruthless and pragmatic, but the machiavellian Nyborg is no villain - this is much more a show for fans of The West Wing than it is for lovers of House Of Cards, focusing on the horse trading and spin necessary to get absolutely anything done in the modern political sphere. An accomplished modern drama. (Four series)
