Boston homicide detective Jane Rizzoli (Law & Order's Angie Harmon) doesn't have many close friends, but the one she can always rely on is medical examiner Maura Isles (early NCIS star Sasha Alexander). Pooling their expertise, they manage to solve cases that nobody else can.
A classic US cop show packed with character, sharp dialogue and a different case to sink your teeth into each episode, Rizzoli & Isles is seven series of pure, undemanding enjoyment. Harmon and Alexander have a lovely squabbling chemistry as the two friends, but the presence of excellent support from familiar faces such as Bruce McGill (as Rizzoli's former partner) and The Sopranos' Lorraine Bracco (as Rizzoli's interfering mum) boots things up an extra notch.
