A vampire, a ghost and a werewolf share a house in this British fantasy comedy drama that packaged those over-familiar Gothic creations in a fresh new way.

As the title suggests, the trio of fiends actually want to be more human, and work hard to reject their murderous natures. Werewolf George (Russell Tovey) and vampire John (Aidan Turner) have forged an unlikely friendship and work together as hospital porters. They move into a house that has a spectral resident - Lenora Crichlow's ghost Annie haunts the house where she died and is thrilled to get new housemates who can see and touch her.

That's the basic set-up, but over five series it developed and broadened in scope considerably. What began as being very much about the core trio and their personal challenges grew to encompass outside tensions as well, pretty big ones at that including shadowy organisations, religious zealots and fascist vampire factions. It also survived cast changes that saw Michael Socha (The Gallows Pole), Damien Molony (Ripper Street) and Kate Bracken (Shetland) take over as the core trio for the final series. Its loyal fanbase howled at the moon when the show was unceremoniously cancelled. (Five series)
