Revisiting the town where he grew up, creator James Graham - who also wrote the equally brilliant Quiz about coughing major Charles Ingram - has crafted a riveting six-parter about murder and a manhunt in a community still riven by the miners' strike.
It's a true-crime drama inspired by not one but two shocking events in the Nottinghamshire countryside, but Graham elevates it into a show that feels both intimate and political at the same time.
David Morrissey leads a superb cast as the quietly assured policeman who tries to find a link between two killings in the present day; with Robert Glenister as his rival from the Met Police, who is still haunted by past violence. Rounding out the excellent ensemble players are Lesley Manville, Adeel Akhtar and Lindsay Duncan. (Six episodes).
